Q : Accidently I dropped my 4 year old western digital external hard drive of 500GB. After that it stopped detecting and weird noise also started. Immediately I disconnected that I will not cause any damage to platters so that data recovery will be impossible. I opened it myself I fround nothing unusual but looiks like the head is moved and causing that noise. There is no single scratch on the platter. I m living in Dubai it will cost me more than 1500 Dhirhams (400 dollars). I have valuable data of 430 GB inside. I want your suggestion on this and also I want to know how much it will cost to buy new head for the drive.
